Backstage at Paolina Russo Spring/Summer '27

With its lineup of independent talents from Scandinavia and beyond, Copenhagen Fashion Week has a knack for bringing out fashion’s more playful side. For Spring/Summer 2027, Paolina Russo leaned into that spirit in full force.

 

Unveiled on August 4, the collection traces back to the London-based designer’s grandparents’ home, recalling a summer spent sewing lone-star quilts by day and skating at the park by night. Entitled “Lone Star,” that adolescent optimism and free spirit comes through in sun-faded hues and geometric denim prints inspired by traditional quilt patterns.

 

Backstage, that youthful energy was just as palpable, with models and creatives bringing an easy, playful spirit to the collection before taking it to the runway. Between the laid-back styling and skateboards in tow, the atmosphere felt like a snapshot of the carefree, movement-fueled summer that Russo harkens back to.

 

As the story progresses, the palette deepens and the looks take on a more rebellious edge. Models rode customized skateboards down the runway, while oversized, melted-plastic earrings inspired by Beyblade toys, added another layer of early aughts nostalgia.

 

The world of “Lone Star” extended beyond the clothes, too, with performances from Hal0plus and Grace Ives creating an atmosphere rooted in friendship, music, and community. By bringing together the warmth of a family home with the freedom of the skatepark, Russo turns one endless summer into an effervescent portrait of growing up.
