Acne Studios Opens Doors in New York City's Meatpacking District

On the corner where the High Line runs past the Whitney, in a neighborhood that spent the better part of a century handling flesh before it handled fashion, Acne Studios has opened its second New York store in the Meatpacking District.

The Gansevoort Street address is about as public as Manhattan retail gets, its glass façade wrapping the ground floor so that the racks, furniture and perusing people are all visible from the street, framed like a diorama for anyone strolling by. There is no heavy door to push; the store simply presents itself guilelessly.

For the loyal Acne Studios clientele, the interior is a familiar refrain in a new key. Creative director Jonny Johansson once again worked with Halleroed, the Swedish architecture studio behind Acne Studios interiors from Stockholm to Seoul, to continue its sculptural, unostentatious style. The brand’s signature pink granite and soft hues drench the space; stone and mirror-clad monolithic columns rise through it, giving the room weight against the buoyancy of the glass.

The furniture is the housewarming gift. Max Lamb, another longtime Acne collaborator, has produced leather sofas and armchairs that slump as though they have already been sat in, along with wooden chairs, tables, and daybeds that hold themselves stiffly upright, all of it arranged in loose clusters.

All that seating needs somewhere to point, and the Acne Paper library—an evolving selection of art and fashion titles—does the work a window display usually does, inviting walk-ins and sit-downs; rather generous for a brand that could have filled the same square footage with more clothing and accessories.

The Meatpacking location chooses exposure over comfort, and asks to be looked at accordingly, which is about as recognizably New York as a store can get.

Located at 82 Gansevoort in New York City, Acne Studios Meatpacking opened on August 10, 2026, carrying the SS26 and FW26 collections, including ready-to-wear, footwear, and accessories. Discover more from Acne Studios online and on Instagram.
