Di Petsa Finds Divinity in Motherhood

London Fashion Week, above all else, is often defined by its extremes: collections tend to lean into either the classically British or the wonderfully eccentric. Di Petsa brings a different kind of energy to the calendar. 

 

Its sensual, hyper-feminine clothes are centered around the body more than the clothing itself, treating dress as a means of tracing, revealing, and transforming the person underneath. For Spring/Summer ’27, that relationship becomes even more intimate with HOLY MILK, as designer Dimitra Petsa turns her attention to motherhood, casting real mothers throughout the show—including singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock, who closed the runway.

The collection brings back Petsa’s signature draped jersey, creating sculptural silhouettes that mimic the effect of water across the skin. Draped dresses seamlessly fall around the body, creating fluidity that reflects the collection’s connection between oneself and the ocean. Enlarged floral prints embrace this idea of new life and signify fresh starts, appearing in ombré effects across the gowns with deep pink and purple hues blending across the fabric.

 

Gold and white are prominently featured throughout the collection, creating an almost ethereal sense of softness, while deep blue and black introduce a darker contrast. Delicate lace, translucent layers and close-fitting silhouettes create a balance between more striking pieces with its softer, more ethereal elements.

The bridal looks push those proportions further. Voluminous gowns interrupt the collection’s otherwise close relationship to the body, while pearls, stones, and sun motifs appear across layered necklaces created in collaboration with Awe Inspired. Rather than straightforward ornamentation, the jewelry feels talismanic, extending the collection’s language of ritualistic divinity.

 

Motherhood, in HOLY MILK, is less a fixed identity than a transformation—considering what it means to create new life while continually becoming someone new yourself.
