The ever-turning wheel of creative director announcements has landed on a new talent, and it marks a big win for independent designers.

Rachel Scott, whose own label Diotima has continued to rise fashion’s ranks with its intricate, textural masterpieces, is the newly-appointed Creative Director at Proenza Schouler.

Since its inception in 2002, the New York label has been helmed by founders Lazaro Hernandez and Jack McCollough. The duo announced their joint departure this past January, and they’re set to showcase their debut collection for Loewe this October in Paris.

Now, Scott is leading the womenswear powerhouse into a fresh era—and one distilled through her vastly rich, global point of view. “It is with great excitement that I join Proenza Schouler, a brand at the heart of American fashion, and one I have long admired,” said Scott in a press release. “I hold deep respect for the beauty and world Jack and Lazaro so brilliantly crafted, and I look forward to bringing my perspective in dialogue with their legacy.”

Scott’s inaugural collection will debut next February with the Fall / Winter ’26 presentation.
