Zurich- and Paris-based fashion label Prototypes gives decommissioned garments and deadstock new life. Founded by Laura Beham and Callum Pidgeon, the brand has centered on transformation since its founding in 2021. For Fall, the design duo carried the same ethos while reaching back to the house archive, unearthing unseen materials and silhouettes once sidelined by the relentless pace of the fashion calendar.

Silk scarves morph into floor-sweeping dresses, bursting in a cacophony of garnish prints — golden ribbons and roses set against vibrant red. In another look, a mouse-grey trench coat appears dismantled, flipped inside out, and pieced together again into an exaggerated silhouette, its elongated train dragging across the floor. A prom dress gets rendered in glossy plum in one look; silver adornments sweep across a silky slip in another.

Though embellished volumes claim the obvious spotlight at first glance, pencil skirts and fur coats cut with controlled precision ground the ready-to-wear offering. Glistening white leggings shimmer against high-heeled pumps, while familiar uniforms—sharp suits and draped velour tops paired with crisp trousers—provide a steady counterpoint.

All-black dresses and tailoring, meanwhile, hint at a sense of anonymity. The lookbook leans into this restraint: models obscure their gaze with heavy bangs and dark sunglasses. Shot in the brand’s Paris studio near Place Vendôme, the campaign sits at the city’s heart — yet keeps its distance, echoing the collection’s quiet tension between presence and refusal.
