Simon Porte Jacquemus attributes the founding of his eponymous brand to his late mother. Jacquemus is named after her maiden name, and the beauty of family and memory threads through the French fashion brand. For its new capsule collection with Nike, the Provençal house turns to the sportswear giant’s running heritage, culminating in a new take on the Moon Shoe in colorways of brown, white, and pink.

Dug up from Nike’s archives by Jacquemus three years ago, the second release of the Moon Shoe feels as timeless as it does modern. First unveiled by Nike cofounder Bill Bowerman for the 1972 U.S. Olympic Track & Field Trials, the sneaker holds a place in history as Nike’s first sneaker to incorporate its now-iconic waffle sole.

Today, the latest expression sees the shoes reworked with scrunched silhouettes, bringing to mind the shape of beat-up ballet flats. The pale pink iteration further cements the modern ballet reference while nodding to Jacquemus’ identity as a brand that gestures toward softness and naivety. Elsewhere, Nike’s Grind outsole lines the bottom layer, featuring tiny square- and circle-sized grips sprinkled throughout. The result is an iconic running shoe imbued with a sensual silhouette, marrying functionality with fashion.

The Jacquemus x Nike Moon Shoes retail at $180, exclusively available on Jacquemuswebsite. The collection will also be available via the Nike SNKRS app on March 16.
