Let's Dance: Ellen von Unwerth at Christophe Guye Galerie

Art — 08.12.25

Words: Gabriella Onessimo

Few photographers are as instantly recognizable—or as delightfully unruly—as Ellen von Unwerth. Since moving behind the camera in the late ’80s, the former model has helped define the modern language of editorial fashion, capturing its flirtatious spirit as vividly as its gloss. Debuting this past October, Christophe Guye Galerie presents her first solo exhibition in Switzerland, on view until January 25, 2026.

As the fashion gaze is eternally captivated with von Unwerth’s unbridled sense of liberated femininity, the curation pairs original vintage prints with original polaroids from her archive—culminating in iconic large-scale works that appear alongside rare, previously unseen shots. Guest appearances from her muses make their way into the curation, from a dancing Claudia Schiffer lensed in the iconic Guess campaign to Shalom Harlow’s striking 1993 shot in Vogue France.

These outtakes and raw shots carry their own allure, giving into the spontaneity and on-set electricity that defines her work.
